Some objects stay with you. Not just because they are beautiful, but because they mean something.
How it all started
For me, it was my father’s marble chess set. When he placed it on the table, everything else disappeared. We cleared the space, the pieces found their places, and the world quieted. When I first held them in my hands, their weight was reassuring, their smoothness grounding. Even as a child, I knew this was something special.
Years later, I realized it wasn’t just the chess set I cherished, but the way it made me feel. The way it turned an ordinary moment into something worth remembering. The way it connected me to my father, to the past, to something beyond just a game.
One evening, as I was teaching my girlfriend how to play, I found myself explaining not just the rules, but the ritual of it: the clearing of the table. The slowing down. The presence. The feeling it gave me: How it made me slow down. How it made a simple moment feel special. And that’s when it hit me.
I wanted to share that feeling with others.
I wanted to create objects that do more than just sit in a home. I wanted to bring people closer to their space, to their traditions, to the things that truly matter. And so, Marmonix was born.
